Madison Bumgarner. Noah Syndergaard. Adam Eaton. These are all injuries that have had a big effect on our 2017 Rest-Of-The-Season Rankings. However, this week’s injury news has the biggest impact yet.

As it says in the title of this article, an Angel has fallen. Now, this isn’t just any Angel. I  am sure that you all know who I am talking about. Mike Trout, the best player in baseball, will miss 6-8 weeks after undergoing surgery for a torn ligament in his thumb.

Of course, this has a huge impact in Fantasy. Trout has topped these rankings for every single week of this year. Fantasy Baseball is a sport that is won by having a good all-around team, but Mike Trout is one of those game-changers that defy this. His impact can carry a Fantasy team, and now Trout owners will be without that for around two months.

It is obviously unfortunate, but at least the Angels also had some good news this week. Congratulations to Albert Pujols for hitting his 600th career home run! While losing Trout is an immeasurable loss, at least the baseball gods let the Angels have something to cheer for.

Now, let’s move on into talking about the players who have seen a change in their Fantasy stock this week.

2017 Rest-Of-The-Season Rankings

Stock Up

Elvis Andrus, SS, Texas Rangers

I bet that you didn’t know that Elvis Andrus is ESPN’s current highest scoring shortstop. Nope, not Carlos Correa, Corey Seager, Francisco Lindor or Xander Bogaerts, but Elvis Andrus. Andrus came into the year as someone who I liked. I thought he was both underrated and undervalued as someone who could contribute in average, steals and runs. However, he has surpassed all expectations this year and has quickly become one of the most underrated players in all of Fantasy.

He has been a true five-category producer this year, as he is currently batting .305 with 33 runs scored, seven home runs, 32 RBI and 13 stolen bases. While the aforementioned categories are to be expected, the real surprise is the home runs and RBI. He has had a long history of success in average, runs, and steals, so even if the power outbreak ends up being a fluke, he will have no problem still contributing to Fantasy teams.

Ty Blach, SP, San Francisco Giants

The emergence of Ty Blach has been one of the few bright spots in the Giants disappointing start to the 2017 season. Matt Cain beat him out for the fifth starter job to open the season. However, Blach was forced into the rotation due to Madison Bumgarner’s injury.

Now, if you have read anything on Ty Blach this year, then you have probably heard something similar to what I am about to say, but in a league moving towards power-pitching strikeout specialists, Blach is a refreshing change. He is a classic, pitch to contact sinker-baller who has really been getting the job done this season. A great Giants defense helps a pitcher like this tremendously, but from what I have seen from Blach both this season and last season, I think he is the real deal. He should be a solid guy to help your ERA and WHIP categories while providing a fair amount of wins.

And that’s about all there is to it.

Let’s just get into the rankings.
