2017 Rest-Of-The-Season Rankings: Home Stretch

Welcome back to the 2017 Rest-Of-The-Season Rankings.

We have almost reached the last month of baseball, so that means we are on the home stretch of the Fantasy season. There are only one or two weeks before your Fantasy playoffs if yours haven’t started already. Obviously, rankings lose significance around that time, and Rest-Of-The-Season Rankings especially lose significance when there is barely any time left on the season, but who cares? Baseball is great, this time of year is great, so why not just keep reading these articles anyway?

Great sales pitch out of the way, it is time to gear up for the playoffs. Your teams are probably set, your trade deadline has likely passed, and the only moves you will likely make are low-impact waiver moves for injury replacements or rookies. Even so, I am sure that we can all agree that it is still fun to check how good your team is, and that is what these rankings are for at this point of the season (maybe that was a better pitch).

Before we get into the rankings, let’s discuss some players whose Fantasy stock has changed over the past week.

2017 Rest-Of-The-Season Rankings

Stock Up

Chris Taylor, 2B/3B/SS/LF/CF, Los Angeles Dodgers

OK, Chris Taylor broke out. He was a useful Fantasy player on any Fantasy team and sort of came out of nowhere. I kept waiting. And waiting. For regression. Who is Chris Taylor? Well, he has been one of the best offensive players on a record-breaking Dodgers team. He is batting .311 on the season with 17 home runs, 58 RBI, 69 runs scored, and 14 stolen bases-a true 5-category stud. Who knows if this is his one year of glory or if he is actually a star (I think it will be in the middle as he is a good player but everyone’s stats get boosted when playing with a great team). Either way, count on him to be a stud at least for the rest of this season.

Josh Donaldson, 3B, Toronto Blue Jays

Only a couple of weeks ago I had Donaldson on the “Stock Down” section. He returned from injury and after looking good at first was struggling mightily. Well, times have changed. In the month of August Donaldson has a batting average in the mid 300’s and an OPS over 1.300. He now is batting .265 with 20 home runs, 52 RBI and 42 runs scored on the year which is amazing considering that he only has 287 at bats. Keep riding his hot bat to (hopefully) a championship.

Stock Down

Bryce Harper, OF, Washington Nationals

At the exact wrong time, Bryce Harper went down with an injury. I don’t even need to tell you his stats, or about his injury and how it happened. You should already know this. I will tell you that no one knows if he will be able to return before the end of the year which would be a huge blow to the second best player in baseball his Fantasy owners everywhere.
