DraftKings Picks For April 28

Pitchers

Max Scherzer, WSH vs NYM ($12,700)

The Mets offense has been the worst in baseball so far in 2017, and Yoenis Cespedes will miss this series with a strained hamstring, further weakening the Mets’ punch potential.  Vegas has Scherzer holding the Mets to 3 runs or less, and he brings a K/9 of 10.73 into the game.  Anytime Scherzer takes the mound, he has a chance for a massive day, and the stage seems set for one tomorrow.

Jacob deGrom, NYM vs. WSH ($10,500)

Jacob deGrom faces the potent Washington offense today, yet his numbers indicate he is still a strong play today and may come with an ownership discount. deGrom has K’ed 23 batters in his last two games and has a k/9 of 11.98.  Vegas has the Nats set for 3.9 runs, while deGrom has a FIP of 2.65.

Other Pitchers I Like

  • Carlos Carrasco, CLE vs SEA ($10,200)
  • Marcus Stroman, TOR vs TB ($9,100)

Catchers

Alex Avila, DET vs CWS ($2,900)

Avila has decent home run pop for a low price, and currently, has an ISO over .200 against righties like Mike Pelfry, who had a HR/9 of 1.13 last year.

Other Catchers I Like:

  • Buster Posey, SF vs. COL ($3,800)

First Base

Freddie Freeman, ATL vs MIL ($4,800)

Freeman has remained on fire, and brings a 2017 ISO over .400 into a game in one of the most home run friendly parks in the majors. His .721 SLG percentage provides further evidence Freeman plans to make the new Atlanta stadium known as the Launching Pad 2 (the nickname of the old Turner Field in Atlanta).

Eric Thames, MIL vs ATL ($4,900)

Thames is one of the few players capable of out-homering Freeman, and has an insane ISO of .535 and SLG of .904 in 2017. The reborn slugger has also demonstrated elite plate discipline through the first month, and his average game’s production easily meets salary expectations.

Other First Basemen I Like

  • Paul Goldschmidt, ARI vs. COL ($5,100)

Second Base

Ian Kinsler, DET vs. CWS ($4200)

Kinsler bats second for the powerful Detroit offense, which is set by Vegas to score at least 5.2 runs against Mike Pelfry today (who had a HR/9 of 1.13 in 2016). Kinsler can get you upside via the Home Run or extra base hits or even stolen bases, and he is a key part of any Tiger stack.

Brandon Drury, ARI vs. COL ($3,600)

Two of the most high-powered offenses in baseball meet in a very hitter friendly stadium, with Arizona averaging over 5 runs per game so far in 2017. Drury gets you a cheap piece of this action and one of the scarcer positions in baseball. While his ISO is down so far in 2017, Drury has demonstrated real home run power, and all parts of the Arizona lineup have been producing so far this season.

Other Second Basemen I Like

  • Starlin Castro, NYY vs BALT ($3,500)

Third Base

Eduardo Nunez, SF vs. SD ($3,700)

Nunez has been slumping, which has decreased his price to a very affordable 3.7K. Slumping or not, Nunez still has both stolen base and home run upside, and bats third in a lineup marked for 4.3 runs by the bookies.  Nunez should go overlooked tonight, giving you a chance for low ownership upside.

Justin Turner, LAD vs PHI, ($3,400)

Turner continues to offer great value at third base.  His home run drought will not last, and he has a higher ISO splits against righty arms so far this year.  Turner’s power drought continues to depress his ownership and price, and his batted ball form shows that he has started to round into form as his Hard Hit, Fly Ball, and Line Drive rates have all increased over the past week.  His prime spot in the LAD batting order further underscores the great value he is at this price.

Other Third Basemen I Like

  • Jake Lamb, ARI vs COL ($4,500)

Shortstop

Trevor Story, COL vs. ARI ($4,500)

Story continues to have red hot batted ball form and carries a splits advantage of  an ISO of.337 and a SLG. of 621 against southpaws this season.  Ray is a true strikeout pitcher, but he also gives up a lot of fly balls with high Exit Velocity and average distance travelled, which fits Story’s current batting form perfectly.

Corey Seager, LAD vs. PHI ($4,300)

Seager carries a splits wOBA of .412, an ISO of  .234 and a SLG .577 against right handers. He basts second for a LA offense marked for 4.4 runs by Vegas, and can easily hit his salary expectations at 4.3K.  Eichoff has a good reputation, but he tends to allow too much distance and hard contact on his pitches.  Seager is a favorite to do both to a ball tonight.

Other Shortstops I Like

  • Chris Owings, ARI vs. COL ($3,600)

Outfielders

David Peralta, ARI vs COL ($3,800)

Peralta is a slighty cheaper A.J. Pollock, and is hard to leave out of any Arizona stack.  Set for 5 runs tonight, Arizona has been averaging over 5 runs a game in Chase Field.  Peralta’s wRC+ of 146 on the year drives home how much of a value he is at any price in the $3,ooo-$4,000 range.

A.J. Pollock, ARI vs COL ($4,200)

Pollock gets the prime real estate of batting first for one of the best offenses in Baseball.  He has 2 home runs but seven stolen bases and 18 runs scored on the season so far, and has shown great form in his return from injury last season.  His lineup spot and various ways to score points give him a very high ceiling for a great price on a superstar outfielder.

Dexter Fowler, STL vs CIN ($4,100)

Dexter Fowler certainly earned the title superstar outfielder for his production while with the Cubs. Like the rest of the Cardinal’s lineup he got off to a slow start in 2017, but the team, and Fowler and now firing on all cylinders.  The leadoff hitter has three multi-hit games in a row, and currently, has excellent batted ball numbers and form.

Other Outfielders I Like

  • Yasmany Tomas ARI vs COL  ($4,000)
  • Tyler Collins DET vs. CWS ($2,700)
