Wednesday brings another full slate of MLB action, and SCFE is here to help you with our Draftkings Picks For May 24.
After reviewing the slate, the pitching options look very disappointing.
There’s only one true ace on the slate in Chris Sale, and every other pitcher is overpriced in my opinion.
Because of this, I recommending either paying up for Sale and one cheap pitcher, or taking two cheap pitchers and loading up on bats.
Starting two lineups with these plans would make a lot of sense. Below are our Draftkings picks for May 24th, good luck and go win some money!
Draftkings Picks For May 24
Chris Sale, BOS vs TEX ($13,500)
In a weak pitching slate, Sale is the only Top 15 ace to start the slate. Even though Texas can put up runs effectively, Sale has been lights out this season. The ace is averaging 32 Fantasy points per game on Draftkings, and almost has 100 strikeouts on the season. If you want a star pitcher in your DFS lineup, Sale is your best option.
Luis Severino, NYY vs KC ($9,900)
Severino has made big strides for a New York pitching staff that has struggled in recent years. Even though Severino has been better on the road than at home, Kansas City has one of the weakest lineups in the league. With the lack of pitching options in the slate, Severino is a smart start today against the Royals.
Other Pitchers I Like
- Rich Hill, LAD vs STL ($8,900)
- Jose Berrios, MIN @ BAL ($7,400)
- Tyler Chatwood, COL @ PHI ($6,900)
Alex Avila, DET @ HOU ($3,500)
Avila has definitely been hot as of late, something the Tigers lineup has definitely needed. The Tigers’ catcher is coming off a 30 Fantasy point game last weekend, and is hitting .360. Let’s hope Avila continues this production today against an up and down Charlie Morton.
J.T. Realmuto, MIA @ OAK ($3,400)
Consistent production out of the catcher position is never something to take for granted. Even though Sonny Gray is coming off a good start, it’s hard to expect more of the same. I like Realmuto to score the Fantasy points you need out of the catcher position.
Other Catchers I Like
- Jason Castro, MIN @ BAL ($3,300)
Joey Votto, CIN @ CLE ($5,200)
Even though the series is moving to Cleveland, I expect Votto to keep hitting well. Votto has been one of the best DFS hitters for years now, and he gets a good matchup against the struggling Trevor Bauer. It’s hard to pass up on Votto while he is averaging over 10 Fantasy points per game, so save some money for him.
Ryan Zimmerman, WAS vs SEA ($4,600)
One of the biggest surprises of this season has been the health and success of Ryan Zimmerman. This Washington lineup is due to come up big, and why not have it happen against an inexperienced opposing starter.
Other First Basemen I Like
- Jose Abreu, CWS @ ARI ($4,900)
- Ryon Healy, OAK vs MIA ($3,300)
Brian Dozier, MIN @ BAL ($4,700)
Over the last couple weeks, Dozier has been on fire and is a great start today. Dozier has had double-digit Fantasy points in each of his last three games, with two hits per game. These points and a good matchup against Chris Tillman makes Dozier a strong start today.
Devon Travis, TOR @ MIL ($4,400)
Travis was unstartable in all Fantasy formats early this season, but he’s finally heating up. Over the last week, Travis has been on fire, reaching seven or more Fantasy points in each of his last eight games. Look for Travis to continue this trend in a strong hitting Milwaukee park.
Other Second Basemen I Like
- Daniel Murphy, WAS vs SEA ($5,000)
- Ian Happ, CHC vs SF ($4,100)
- Ian Kinsler, DET @ HOU ($3,700)
Kris Bryant, CHC vs SF ($5,100)
Even though Matt Moore has been better at home, his numbers this season are not what the Giants were looking for. Kris Bryant will have the lefty-righty matchup on Moore, and should find success against the right-hander.
Eugenio Suarez, CIN @ CLE ($4,300)
Suarez and the whole Reds lineup has been hot all season. He also has a great matchup against the struggling Trevor Bauer, in a game that should be pretty high scoring. Even though this isn’t as cheap as I would like Suarez to be, he’s an interesting play today in Cleveland.
Other Third Basemen I Like
- Miguel Sano, MIN @ BAL ($4,900)
- Evan Longoria, TB vs LAA ($4,000)
- Anthony Rendon, WAS vs SEA ($3,700)
Chris Owings, ARI vs CWS ($4,200)
Owings has stayed hot all season, and now gets a good lefty-righty matchup at home against Jose Quintana. The Diamondbacks’ offense has been dominant at home this year, so they make for good starts against the White Sox today, especially the right-handed hitters.
Didi Gregorious, NYY vs KC ($3,800)
Since coming back from injury, Gregorious has continued to play at a high level from last season. The Yankees beat a struggling Jason Hammel and face him again today, which is appealing. With Gregorious still at a cheap price, he’s a great start at home against Hammel.
Other Shortstops I Like
- Zack Cozart, CIN @ CLE ($4,600)
- Francisco Lindor, CLE vs CIN ($4,600)
- Jean Segura, SEA @ WAS ($4,200)
Michael Conforto, NYM vs SD ($4,900)
Now that it looks like the Mets are finally giving Conforto playing time (due to Cespedes getting injured), Conforto is hitting well. Conforto has hit double-digit Fantasy points in three of his last four games, and gets to play the San Diego Padres. The words “San Diego Padres” should be enough to convince you that Conforto is a good start.
Matt Kemp, ATL vs PIT ($4,800)
With Freddie Freeman out, Kemp has had to take on an even larger share of the offensive load. Unfortunately for the Braves, Kemp and Freeman can’t stay healthy together. Kemp should succeed here at home in a great hitting ballpark.
Other Outfielders I Like
- Charlie Blackmon, COL @ PHI ($5,600)
- Mike Trout, LAA @ TB ($5,500)
- Brett Gardner, NYY vs KC ($4,700)
- Andrew Benintendi, BOS vs TEX ($4,200)
After reviewing the slate, I’m sure you all understand why I recommended the drafting strategies with cheap pitchers. Chris Sale is really the only pitcher worth investing heavily in, and save the rest of your money for bats. With batters, target matches with a high over/under total, like WAS vs SEA, COL @ PHI, ARI vs CWS, and CIN @ CLE. Hopefully this advice for your Draftkings Picks For May 24 helps you all make some killer lineups and win some money!
