Sorry for the late post today folks! Busy day at work, car problems and an oldest daughters running club interefered in so many ways today.
Enough woe is me, let’s get right to it! Watch the weather!
As always I am not intending for folks to use every player I recommend as much as building around a few key cogs, or perhaps finding a value play or two and going from there. If you can build an entire lineup with my picks and it works, well done!
Stay tuned for updates on all things such as weather prior to first pitch tonight here. You should also monitor starting lineups, which thankfully are typically submitted well before the games. Many lineup sites also include weather forecasts as well.
If you are into player projections, lineup builders and other cool tools, you should be checking out rotoQL. I tend to use these on days when I am crunched for time, and I have to admit this tool is fast, easy and I look forward to seeing how it does. Just be aware and use some of the tools I provide you as usual with the weather and daily lineup cards.
Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks: Thursday, May 12th
A quick note: If I am only listing one player it is because they are essentially both a good value, and a top choice for me. Some positions and pricing haven’t quite balanced out yet on the Daily Fantasy Sites.
Clayton Kershaw, Los Angeles Dodgers vs New York Mets
Kershaw is the play as always. No explanation needed.
Ian Kennedy, Kansas City Royals @ New York Yankees
Kennedy is known for his strikeout ability and the Yankees have been more than willing to provide them this season. Nice chance for a win as well for Kennedy and the Royals tonight.
Freddie Freeman, Atlanta Braves vs Philadelphia Phillies (Velasquez)
The Braves are putrid but as expected Freeman is one of the few bright spots. He is averaging 7.71 FPPG over his last thirty.
David Ortiz, Boston Red Sox vs Houston Astros (Keuchel)
Ortiz has remained a formiddable force at the plate and Keuchel has not been pitching well so this should be a fantastic play tonight.
Jean Segura, Arizona Diamondbacks vs San Francisco Giants (Cueto)
I am overjoyed to see Segura thriving this season after a few very dissapointing and tough seasons for him. Tonight he faces an ace, but I still like his chance to do some damage at some point in the game. Maybe if it gets to the bullpen.
Jose Altuve, Houston Astros @ Boston Red Sox (Price)
Altuve was a stud before this season and now he has found a power stroke? Sign me up, especially against the shaky as of late David Price in Boston.
Manny Machado, Baltimore Orioles vs Detroit Tigers (Pelfrey)
Machado is the best third baseman in the game currently and tonight he gets a drool-worthy matchup with big Pelf. He won’t be the only Oriole I use tonight, but he is my favorite choice.
Ryan Flaherty, Baltimore Orioles vs Detroit Tigers (Pelfrey)
Flaherty is a nice cheap play if he is playing tonight for the O’s. Keep tabs on lineups for sure if he actually is or not. If so, he makes a solid value play.
Xander Bogaerts, Boston Red Sox vs Houston Astros (Keuchel)
Xander has looked like the uber-prospect this season so far and much like Ortiz he faces the off-balance Keuchel tonight.
Jose Iglesias, Detroit Tigers @ Baltimore Orioles (Jiminez)
Iglesias has a plus matchup tonight as well and has been more than servicable this season for the Tigers. I like him to meet value tonight if you need to spend up on pitching or elsewhere.
Mark Trumbo, Baltimore Orioles vs Detroit Tigers (Pelfrey)
Here is another Oriole. Trumbo has been red-hot, and will likely have no issues hitting Pelfrey tonight.
Jarrett Parker, San Francisco Giants @ Arizona Diamondbacks (Greinke)
Here is another vclaue play you will need to watch lineups for. If he is in the lineup tonight jump on it. Greinke can shut this lineup down, but he will need to break hsi season trend so far to do so.
Stephen Piscotty, St. Louis Cardinals @ Los Angeles Angels (Weaver)
Power and average combo facing a well past his prime pitcher in Weaver is enouygh reason for me to roll with Piscotty tonight. If you don’t trust him and want yet another Oriole consider Adam Jones.
