With a full slate of Wednesday MLB action, SCFE is here with our Draftkings Picks For June 21. Today brings a very subpar pitching slate, where Jose Berrios is the second highest priced pitcher in the slate.

The pitching slate is headlined by Max Scherzer, who is an elite pitcher but is also priced above $14,000. This makes the pitching slate difficult to navigate, so I recommend gambling on matchups.

The hitting slate actually presents a ton of value and options at all positions.

None of these matchups is more attractive than an Arizona and Colorado matchup at Coors Field, where virtually every hitter warrants starting consideration.

Other teams that warrant stack consideration is the Dodgers, Nationals, Reds, and Yankees. Below are SCFE’s recommended Draftkings Picks For June 21.

Draftkings Picks For June 21

Pitchers

Max Scherzer, WAS @ MIA ($14,100)

In a subpar pitching slate, Max Scherzer is clearly the best option to go with. So far through this season, Scherzer is 8-4 with 134 strikeouts, a 2.26 ERA, and a 0.84 WHIP. Scherzer has such a high price tag because of how poor the other pitching options are. That being said, Scherzer is still a great start today, but you’ll have to find cheaper options everywhere else.

Drew Pomeranz, BOS @ KC ($8,500)

In a poor pitching slate, it’s smart to go with a good matchup at a cheaper price. Even though Pomeranz hasn’t been as good a pitcher as he was in San Diego last season, he’s been pretty good this year. Pomeranz is averaging 16 Fantasy points per game, which he should be able to exceed against the struggling Kansas City Royals.

Other Pitchers I Like

  • Jose Berrios, MIN vs CWS ($11,400)
  • Sean Newcomb, ATL vs SF ($6,500)

Catchers

Yadier Molina, STL @ PHI ($3,800)

Catcher is always a tough position to pinpoint, so consistency is key. Molina hits well for average and has a good matchup against a subpar Phillies’ pitching staff. For these reasons, Molina should definitely be on your radar for this tough position.

Alex Avila, DET @ SEA ($4,000)

After switching between catchers frequently last season, Detroit has found success with Avila. Through this season, Avila is hitting .319 with 10 home runs and 27 RBI. Avila is definitely worth consideration with these numbers here at this tough position.

Other Catchers I Like

  • Buster Posey, SF @ ATL ($4,200)

First Basemen

Paul Goldschmidt, ARI @ COL ($5,900)

After improving even on his last couple seasons, Goldschmidt looks like the best player in Fantasy this year. Even for this high price tag, Goldschmidt in Coors Field is as good as it gets for hitting. Look for Goldschmidt and both offenses to produce well and have the highest over-under of the slate.

Joey Votto, CIN @ TB ($4,700)

For a cheaper but still great option, Joey Votto should also produce well in this slate. Votto has had a great season so far, hitting .310 with 19 home runs and 52 RBI. With a struggling Erasmo Ramirez on the hill, Votto is a great start today.

Other First Basemen I Like

  • Cody Bellinger, LAD vs NYM ($5,200)
  • Anthony Rizzo, CHC vs SD
  • Ryan Zimmerman, WAS @ MIA ($4,600)

Second Basemen

Jose Altuve, HOU @ OAK ($4,700)

Even though Manaea pitched well against Houston last time, this price for Altuve is hard to avoid. So far this season, Altuve is hitting .326 with 10 home runs and 34 RBI. A price of $4,700 is one of the cheapest values Altuve has been all season, so take advantage today.

D.J. LeMahieu, COL vs ARI ($4,700)

With Arizona coming to town, it’s hard to find any players in this game not worth consideration for DFS. LeMahieu has been on fire lately, scoring over 10 Fantasy points in three of his last four games. This game will have the highest over-under of the slate, and LeMahieu should produce big in this matchup.

Other Second Basemen I Like

  • Starlin Castro, NYY vs LAA ($4,400)
  • Jason Kipnis, CLE @ BAL ($4,300)

Third Basemen

Jake Lamb, ARI @ COL ($5,600)

With a right-hander on the mound in Coors Field, Lamb is definitely a smart start today. Lamb is off to an incredibly hot start this season, hitting .281 with 16 home runs, and 59 RBI. Even for this higher price, Lamb is definitely a smart start in this matchup.

Justin Turner, LAD vs NYM ($4,500)

Even after suffering an injury earlier in the season, Turner is still on fire. So far this season, Turner is hitting a remarkable .409 with 28 RBI, and has helped this whole lineup put up runs. Even though Pill hasn’t been bad in his first couple starts, this Dodgers lineup will definitely test him, so look for them and Turner to produce big.

Other Third Basemen I Like

  • Nolan Arenado, COL vs ARI ($5,500)
  • Jose Ramirez, CLE @ BAL ($5,100)
  • Travis Shaw, MIL vs PIT ($4,300)

Shortstops

Trea Turner, WAS @ MIA ($5,300)

The rookie has continued to be money in this dynamic offense, especially with how many runs Washington can put up. So far this season, Turner is hitting .267 with seven home runs, 30 RBI, and 10 Fantasy points per game. Look for Turner to produce big, especially if he can get a stolen base or two.

Didi Gregorius, NYY vs LAA ($4,400)

The Yankees’ replacement for Derek Jeter is continuing to be huge for the team the year after a breakout 2016 campaign. Since coming back from injury in late April, Gregorius is hitting .330 with seven home runs and 26 RBI. With a weak Angels’ pitching staff in town, look for Gregorius and this Yankees’ roster to continue to hit well.

Other Shortstops I Like

  • Corey Seager, LAD vs NYM ($4,700)
  • Trevor Story, COL vs ARI ($4,400)
  • Brandon Crawford, SF @ ATL ($3,600)

Outfielders

Charlie Blackmon, COL vs ARI ($5,600)

After being a fringe first round pick in Fantasy drafts, Blackmon has proven to be the first round talent we thought he’d be. So far this season, Blackmon is averaging almost 11 Fantasy points per game, while hitting .326 with 15 home runs and 54 RBI. Look for Blackmon to continue producing in this matchup with Arizona, which will be very high-scoring.

Andrew McCutchen, PIT @ MIL ($4,500)

After another slow start, McCutchen has definitely picked it up as of late. After averaging double-digit Fantasy points in four of the last six games, McCutchen and the Pirates get to travel to the hitter-friendly Milwaukee ballpark. Look for Cutch to continue this hot streak in Milwaukee.

Other Outfielders I Like

  • Bryce Harper, WAS @ MIA ($5,500)
  • Corey Dickerson, TB vs CIN ($4,500)
  • Ender Inciarte, ATL vs SF ($4,400)
  • J.D. Martinez, DET @ SEA ($4,200)

After reviewing our recommendations above, I hope you can find the best combinations of stars and role players for your lineups. I know I listed many high priced batters above, but this is to complement the lack of good pitching options in this slate. I know I will take my chances with cheaper pitchers and get the best value from my hitters. Best of luck to all DFS players, and go win some money!
