Wednesday brings another full slate of exciting MLB action, and SCFE is here with our Draftkings Picks For May 31.
In a full fifteen game slate, there are many great options to pick through when creating your DFS lineup.
With pitching, Max Scherzer is practically a lock to produce very well in his matchup against the Giants. There are many other solid options including Jacob deGrom and Zack Godley to pick from as well if you want to invest more in batters.
When it comes to batters, there are a lot of great options across the board in this slate. My recommendation is to pick a couple of batters that you feel comfortable with and build around them.
Be sure and follow my recommendations below for a good shot at winning some DFS money with my Draftkings Picks For May 31.
Draftkings Picks For May 31
Max Scherzer, WSH @ SF ($13,300)
Scherzer headlines todays slate, in a very appealing matchup against the Giants. San Francisco ranks 23rd or worse for every relevant hitting category on Draftkings, while Scherzer averages 27 Fantasy points per game. Even for a high price tag, Scherzer in this matchup is worth 13k, and should produce big.
Zack Godley, ARI @ PIT ($8,700)
Godley is an incredibly intriguing option today in this slate because of his recent success and good matchup. The Pirates rank 20th or worse in every relevant batting category, and the game is in the pitcher-friendly Pittsburgh park. This matchup is definitely worth this investment, as Godley is a solid middle of the pack option.
Other Pitchers I Like
- Jacob deGrom, NYM vs MIL ($12,000)
- Jake Arrieta, CHC @ SD ($9,900)
- Masahiro Tanaka, NYY @ BAL ($8,100)
Brian McCann, HOU @ MIN ($3,700)
This Astros’ team has been balling out lately, and I like their odds against Hector Santiago today. McCann definitely has a pretty high ceiling in this lineup, and Santiago has been struggling lately. Have confidence in starting McCann in this matchup.
Russell Martin, TOR vs CIN ($3,600)
Martin and this Toronto lineup is finally starting to heat up, and a Cincinnati pitching staff should allow this to continue. On Monday, Martin exploded for a 34 point Fantasy game, which is clearly his best of the season. Let’s hope the Blue Jays’ lineup continues this hot stretch.
Other Catchers I Like
- J.T. Realmuto, MIA vs PHI ($3,600)
- Alex Avila, DET @ KC ($3,200)
Joey Votto, CIN @ TOR ($4,500)
In a game that looks to be pretty high scoring, Joey Votto is a steal for this price. Votto is averaging just a hair under 10 Fantasy points per game and is hitting .282. This is definitely a cheap price for Votto, so he’s a great buy low option today in DFS.
Cody Bellinger, LAD @ STL ($3,900)
After getting called up a month ago, Bellinger has helped this Dodgers lineup get even better. So far, Bellinger is averaging 10 Fantasy points per game, and still has a cheap price tag. Even with Carlos Martinez on the mound, don’t shy away from Bellinger in this matchup.
Other First Basemen I Like
- Paul Goldschmidt, ARI @ PIT ($5,700)
- Carlos Santana, CLE vs OAK ($4,600)
Robinson Cano, SEA vs COL ($4,800)
Believe it or not, Senzatela is a Rockies pitcher with better numbers at home than on the road. Cano has definitely been the focal point of this offense, and should produce effectively in this matchup.
Daniel Murphy, WSH @ SF ($4,300)
For this cheap price, Murphy is an absolute steal. This Nationals team is angry over Monday’s incident, and Matt Cain vs. Max Scherzer really isn’t a fair matchup. For a cheap price in a good matchup, Murphy is a great DFS pick today.
Other Second Basemen I Like
- Starlin Castro, NYY @ BAL ($3,900)
- Jose Peraza, CIN @ TOR ($3,600)
Jake Lamb, ARI @ PIT ($5,100)
Whenever Lamb faces a right-hander, his DFS value skyrockets. Even though he has a pretty high price, this lineup has been hot, and Lamb is doing great this season. Kuhl has been very up and down this season, so I like Lamb to succeed in this matchup.
Manny Machado, BAL vs NYY ($4,000)
Even though Machado hasn’t been very good this season, it’s hard to turn him down at this price. What’s also interesting is that Tanaka is on the mound, and he has been horrible when Sanchez is behind the plate. This is something worth monitoring beforehand. If Romine is behind the plate, the matchup isn’t as appealing.
Other Third Basemen I Like
- Anthony Rendon, WAS @ SF ($4,400)
- Ryon Healy, OAK @ CLE ($3,800)
Carlos Correa, HOU @ MIN ($5,400)
There are few batters that are hotter right now than Carlos Correa. He has had two hits or more in the last five games. Even though his price has shot up, this matchup against the struggling Santiago is appealing. Correa is an excellent star to build around for DFS today.
Zack Cozart, CIN @ TOR ($4,200)
Cozart and most of this Reds lineup has been on fire, and this price tag is pretty cheap for nine Fantasy points a game. As I mentioned before with Votto, this game looks to be high-scoring, and these Fantasy points are cheap to get. Cozart is a great start in DFS today if you want to save money at the position.
Other Shortstops I Like
- Francisco Lindor, CLE vs OAK ($5,000)
- Corey Seager, LAD vs STL ($4,000)
Aaron Judge, NYY @ BAL ($5,400)
Maybe the hottest hitter in the league right now is Aaron Judge, who has a good matchup against Kevin Gausman. The Orioles pitcher has struggled greatly as of late, and should present a good matchup for the Yankees lineup. If you’re going to invest heavily in the outfield, Judge is a great building block for DFS today.
Matt Kemp, ATL @ LAA ($3,900)
Kemp hasn’t gotten the love in DFS that he should, especially considering he is hitting .337 and averaging nine Fantasy points. The Braves face a good matchup in Jesse Chavez, who hasn’t been a good pitcher in years. Look for Kemp to definitely outperform his price today in this matchup.
Other Outfielders I Like
- Charlie Blackmon, COL @ SEA ($5,500)
- Adam Duvall, CIN @ TOR ($5,300)
- Michael Conforto, NYM vs MIL ($4,900)
- Tommy Pham, STL @ LAD ($3,800)
After reviewing my Draftkings Picks For May 31, I hope you all can find player combinations you feel comfortable with. It’ll be pretty hard for me to pass up on starting Scherzer in my lineups today, so he’s a great building block. With batters, there are some big names that have good matchups and low price tags, like Machado and Murphy. I wish you all the best of luck in DFS today, and let’s hope we all win some money!
