Welcome to the Fantasy Baseball Hitting Planner for MLB Week 12!
Each week, the SCFE Hitting Planner points out the best set of hitters to target, and MLB Week 12 offers a solid slate of matchups that have the potential to become high-scoring affairs.
The Yankees host the Phillies, whose pitching staff has been getting hammered during the month of June, sporting a team ERA of 4.95.
The Diamondbacks get perhaps the best matchups, as they’ll face the Rockies — who have an even worse team ERA in June at 5.38 — and a struggling Padres’ pitching staff. Meanwhile, the Giants get the same great Week 12 matchups against the Padres and Rockies.
The Twins also have two favorable matchups, as they play both the White Sox and Brewers’ pitching staff — both of whom continue to rank among the worst in baseball.

Best Hitter Matchups for Week 12
David Peralta, OF, Arizona
In addition to two fantastic Week 12 matchups against the Rockies and Padres, Peralta is now slated to pick up more playing time with Ender Inciarte hitting the 15-day disabled list. Since filling in for Inciarte, Peralta has hit second and fourth in the batting order – two prime spots to put up big numbers.
Chris Parmelee, 1B/OF, Baltimore
Parmelee was called up to the Majors on June 16 and promptly put in the starting lineup, where he did not disappoint. In his first game as an Oriole, Parmelee went 4-for-6 with two homers. The very next game he homered once again. It’s tough to gauge playing time in Baltimore’s outfield – outside of Adam Jones – but Parmelee could find himself on the better part of a platoon as long as he keeps swinging the bat well.
The Orioles will face a struggling Red Sox pitching staff that continues to give up tons of runs, then face the Indians to finish out the week. If you’re in a pinch and need an upside play for Week 12, you could certainly do worse than Parmelee.
Byron Buxton, OF, Minnesota
One of baseball’s top prospects, Buxton was called up to a struggling Twins’ offense and has yet to settle into much of a groove – recording just two hits in 16 at-bats. Fortunately for Buxton, the Twins get two favorable matchups in Week 12, as they play an inconsistent White Sox pitching staff and a Brewers’ staff that continues to rank in the bottom three.
If you’re in the business of anticipating a breakout game or two, Week 12 sets up to be as good a time as any.
Mitch Moreland, 1B, Texas
With Kyle Blanks placed on the 15-day disabled list, Moreland’s playing time is assured and he’ll continue to bat in the heart of the Rangers’ lineup. The Rangers host the Athletics to begin Week 12, and then finish off the week against the Blue Jays at the hitter-friendly confines of the Rogers Centre.
On the season, Moreland is batting .305 with eight homers and 31 RBIs through 166 at-bats. With matchups at two of baseball’s most generous hitter’s parks, Moreland could put up big numbers in Week 12.
