Welcome to the Fantasy Baseball Hitting Planner for Week 17!

Each week, we try to point out the best set of hitters to target, so check back every Friday.

After a plethora trades went down this week, there are plenty of new faces in new places. Troy Tulowitzki, who is now a Blue Jay, finds himself in a fantastic spot to make a huge Fantasy impact. Carlos Gomez also lands in a great spot in Houston, while Dustin Ackley (Yankees) and Brandon Moss (Cardinals) also found new homes. With so many notable players changing colors midseason, new job opportunities have been created, paving the way for second-half heroes to arise.

Looking ahead to Fantasy Week 17 you’ll find plenty of matchups to exploit. The Rangers and Astros clash in Texas for a three-games series, while the Padres play the lowly Brewers for a four-game series in Milwaukee. The Nationals’ offense continues to get healthier with the return of Ryan Zimmerman and Anthony Rendon, and they will have two fantastic running-scoring matchups against the Diamondbacks and the Rockies.

So without further ado, let’s jump into the best hitter matchups for Week 17!

Fantasy Baseball Week 17 Hitting Planner

First Base

Lucas Duda, New York Mets

Duda was in a prolonged slump until he broke out in a big way in Week 16. Over the past week, Duda has rediscovered his power stroke, batting a cool.348 with six homers and seven RBIs. Seemingly back to himself, Duda and the Mets will face the Marlins and Rays in Week 17.

Second Base

Francisco Lindor, Cleveland Indians

Lindor, too, has been on fire of late. Since the All-Star break, Lindor is batting .327 with three homers and 10 RBIs – not bad for your MI position. He continues to bat high in the Indians’ lineup where he’ll see extra at-bats and run-producing opportunities. In Week 17, Lindor and the Indians will face the Angels and Twins – the latter being one of the worst pitching staffs in baseball in the month of July.

J.J. Hardy, Baltimore Orioles

Hardy is currently in the midst of a 13-game hit streak and is batting .310 with two homers and seven RBIs since the All-Star break. He doesn’t have nearly the pop he used to, but he will continue to get plenty of RBI opportunities in a solid Orioles’ lineup that ranks ninth best in baseball offensively. The Orioles will go on the road to face the Athletic and Angels in Week 17.

Michael Taylor, Washington Nationals

If you haven’t noticed, Taylor has been red-hot lately and is swinging for power and stealing bases. Over the past week, Taylor has hit .320 with three homers, six RBIs and two stolen bases. He will continue to get all the at-bats he can handle as Denard Span still appears to be a ways away from returning, leaving Taylor as the Nationals’ center fielder for the foreseeable future. As previously mentioned, Taylor and the Nats will face both the Diamondbacks and Rockies for two dream Fantasy series in Week 17.

Rusney Castillo, Boston Red Sox

He’s finally back from the minors, and this time hopefully it’s for good. In 12 at-bats since his return, Castillo has five hits and a homer, while hitting safely in each game. Castillo is an elite young talent who can be a great source of power and speed. In Week 17, the Red Sox will face the Yankees and Tigers – two great matchups for any talented player that is ready to pop. Start him in Week 17!

Adam Eaton, Chicago White Sox

Eaton has been lighting the world on fire of late, batting .407 over the past week with two homers, two steals, five RBIs and nine runs scored. He has been getting on base with regularity and has been one of the best leadoff men in baseball since the All-Star break. For Week 17, Eaton will face two beatable matchups in the Rays and Royals so he shouldn’t have any problem producing for your Fantasy team.

Aaron Hicks, Minnesota Twins

Hicks isn’t going to stand in the way of uber prospect Byron Buxton once he is ready to return from the DL, but in the meantime, the center-field job is his and he is taking full advantage of it. Post All-Star break, Hicks is batting .359 with a homer, eight RBIs and two stolen bases. Hicks and the Twins will face the Blue Jays and Indians in Week 17 – two matchups that could benefit the hot-hitting center fielder.

Good luck in Week 17 and let our Hitting Planner show you the way, and may your hitters find the bleachers more than they find double-play grounders!
