Here is to hoping my FanDuel Picks for Sunday, May 17th results are better than last weeks. Last week’s lineup only produced 28 points. With Felix Hernandez, Brian Dozier, Avisail Garcia and Josh Donaldson producing modestly. The rest of the lineup struggled mightily.

As I have said in previous posts Sunday’s always make for interesting lineup building days. Players will get days off to rest, Catchers are typically backup players, and as it is everyday weather is a factor but the early start times make things tricky.

Be sure to monitor daily lineups and the weather while building or updating your lineups. Having players put a zero on your team is bound to happen from time to time, but having a zero because a player is not starting is in your lineup just shouldn’t happen.

I have been playing Draft Kings as well and having more luck on that site so I will share a lineup for Draft Kings today as well. Let’s see how we do shall we?

If you are looking for another unique daily style game be sure to try out Fanamana, a mobile only game that lets you pick individual hitters as they hit live. I have been writing strategy posts on SCFE for this fun game so be sure to check them out too.

FanDuel Strategy

Today I am going with value at catcher as always. Basically I am going to find a catcher who is starting and costs $2,200 on FanDuel today. Pitching has been very hit or miss this season, and because of that I am targeting slightly lower price point pitchers who have a great chance to snag a win as well. There is rain in the forecast in most of the games so there is plenty of rain out risk.

FanDuel Picks For Sunday, May 17th

Remember to check Daily Lineups and weather reports before first pitch on FanDuel. Lineups lock and you don’t want to get stuck with a player(s) taking a day off in your lineup! Good luck.

Starting Pitchers

Chris Archer, Tampa Bay ($8,900) vs Minnesota Twins

The Twins have not been a doormat hitting lineup this season at all. That being said Archer has been pitching very well so far this season. He is racking up strikeouts and pitching deep in to most games. The only concern with Archer today is the good ol’ weather. Be sure to monitor the forecast in Minnesota. He could make an intriguing Tournament option because of weather concerns.

Noah Syndergaard, New York Mets ($7,000) vs Milwaukee

This is only Syndergaard’s second start of the season but the Brewers are strikeout prone, and the Mets exploded offensively yesterday. If those hot bats continue today Syndergaard should be in line for a win and strikeouts along with it.

First Base

Paul Goldschmidt, ($5,300) Arizona @ Philadelphia and Sean O’Sullivan

Goldschmidt is hitting only .263 over the past week but he has a very favorable matchup today against O’ Sullivan. Goldy smashed a home run yesterday and he is an on base machine.

Freddie Freeman, ($3,600) Atlanta @ Miami and Henderson Alvarez

Freeman doesn’t have a home run or RBI this week but he is drawing walks and hitting .292. At this price point I like him to continue hitting today against Alvarez and the Marlins. Perhaps his power drought will end today as well.

Second Base

Jason Kipnis, Cleveland ($4,500) @ Texas and Nick Martinez

Kipnis is hot at a nuclear level right now. He needs to be in lineups even at this price point. Kipnis hitting .615/.677/1.000 over the past seven days with 16 hits, one home run and five RBI.

Brian Dozier, Minnesota ($3,600) vs Tampa and Chris Archer

Dozier is another second baseman who is red-hot as well. Although I chose Archer as one of my starters today, if anyone is going to get a hit it will be Dozier. He is hitting .364/.423/.864 with three home runs and four RBI. A very nice and affordable play for today.

Third Base

Mike Moustakas, Kansas City ($2,800) vs New York and Chris Capuano

Moustakas has been having a breakout season to date and Chris Capuano is not the kind of pitcher the Royals should fear. Moustakas hitting .320 this week should be able to produce more today hitting in the second spot.

Shortstop

Ian Desmond, Washington ($2,700) @ San Diego and Ian Kennedy

This is a tougher matchup today but Desmond has been hitting ok in the Nationals lineup, and yesterdays team performance could carry over today. I love Desmond’s price today and potential for a home run.

Outfield

Shin-Soo Choo, Texas ($3,200) @ Cleveland and Carlos Carrasco

Choo is one of the hottest hitters in baseball this week and he could definitely keep it going today. His price does not match his output as of late.

Kole Calhoun, Los Angeles Angels ($3,100) @ Baltimore and Mike Wright

Calhoun fits into the lineup and as the Angels lead-off hitter facing an unknown pitcher is appealing to me today.

Michael Brantley, Cleveland ($4,900) @ Texas and Nick Martinez

Brantley is one of the best in the game right now, and he can do it all. As a five-category producer that is always a nice play in daily games.
