It is another glorious day for some Daily Fantasy Baseball. Although there are two early games on today’s slate, I will only be focusing on the evening slate. The risk of playing an all-day slate is not worth it today.
We had a good week last week, and pitching is appearing to turn around making lineups more potent.
If you are into player projections, lineup builders and other cool tools, you should be checking out rotoQL. I tend to use these on days when I am crunched for time, and I have to admit this tool is fast, easy and I look forward to seeing how it does. Just be aware and use some of the tools I provide you as usual with the weather and daily lineup cards.
Stay tuned for updates on all things such as weather prior to first pitch tonight here.
You should also monitor starting lineups, which thankfully are typically submitted well before the games. Many lineup sites also include weather forecasts as well.
Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks: April 19th
A quick note: If I am only listing one player it is because they are essentially both a good value, and a top choice for me. Some positions and pricing haven’t quite balanced out yet on the Daily Fantasy Sites.
Stephen Strasburg, Washington Nationals @ Miami Marlins
Strasburg has been fantastic to start the season averaging 22.9 Fantasy points this season. Today’s matchup should be no different and come bearing many K’s.
DraftKings: $11,000 FanDuel: $11,300
Jaime Garcia, St. Louis Cardinals vs Chicago Cubs
Garcia has been another fantastic starter this season and thanks to his last gem he is averaging a whopping 33.4 Fantasy points a game. He is also averaging 22.86 over his last five starts. The Cubs are hot and can do damage, but perhaps today Garcia keeps them in check.
DraftKings: $9,200 FanDuel: $9,100
Michael Pineda, New York Yankees vs Oakland Athletics
I can smell the strikeouts from here. If the Yankees offense gets some runs early Pineda will be confident and in good shape for this start.
DraftKings: $8,600 FanDuel: $7,700
Edwin Encarnacion, Toronto Blue Jays @ Baltimore Orioles (Mike Wright)
Wowee zowee this is a matchup and a half. The cost is high, but Edwin Encarnacion should be able to meet value today and who knows, hit a bomb!
DraftKings: $5,100 FanDuel: $4,200
David Ortiz, Boston Red Sox vs Tampa Bay Rays (Drew Smyly)
I will be playing Ortiz on most nights while he is scorching hot. Facing Smyly is a matchup I am willing to use him in.
DraftKings: $4,200 FanDuel: $4,000
Daniel Murphy, Washington Nationals @ Miami Marlins (Adam Conley)
Murphy is consistent and today faces a pitcher who looked great in his last time out. However, that was a surprise to most. I am playing Murphy with confidence today.
DraftKings: $3,800 FanDuel: $3,700
Josh Harrison, Pittsburgh Pirates @ San Diego Padres (Colin Rea)
Value play of the day for me. Harrison can rack up points when he gets on base which he has been doing as of late. He has averaged 7.6 points on the season and 11.6 over hsi last five.
DraftKings: $3,600 FanDuel: $3,100
Nolan Arenado, Colorado Rockies @ Cincinati Reds (Alfredo Simon)
Of the big three tonight Arenado faces the weakest pitcher. That means sign me up for another glimmer of possibility.
DraftKings: $4,700 FanDuel: $5,100
Jake Lamb, Arizona Diamondbacks @ San Francisco Giants (Matt Cain)
Matt Cain can get roughed up more frequently than some pichers. This matchup happens to be a lefty vs righty, Lamb has been swinging a good bat over his last five games.
DraftKings: $3,300 FanDuel: $2,500
Alcides Escobar, Kansas City Royals vs Detroit Tigers (Shane Greene)
Shane Greene is one of my favorite pitchers to gang up against and today Escobar makes a fantastic play and is most importantly affordable.
DraftKings: $3,600 FanDuel: $2,400
Brandon Crawford, San Francisco Giants vs Arizona Diamondbacks (Robbie Ray)
Lefty vs lefty aside I like the Giants facing Robbie Ray today. Shortstop position may be the position I save some money on tonight and focus on finding value. Crawford fits the bill.
DraftKings:$3,000 FanDuel: $3,000
Andrew McCutchen, Pittsburgh Pirates @ San Diego Padres (Colin Rea)
McCutchen is almost always a safe play but facing off against a pitcher like Colin Rea should be a drool worthy option. If you can skimp a few other positions to pair him with Harper you should feel safe in 50/50’s.
DraftKings: $4,600 FanDuel: $4,500
Yasmany Tomas, Arizona Diamondbacks @ San Francisco Giants (Matt Cain)
Tomas has been playing very well over the past week and his price hasn’t caught up. Like Harrison above this is a great value play.
DraftKings: $2,900 FanDuel: $3,400
Bryce Harper, Washington Nationals @ Miami Marlins (Adam Conley)
This is Bryce Harper. He is playing like the best player in baseball should. Do you need an excuse to play him? Even more important he is facing Adam Conley
DraftKings: $5,300 FanDuel: $6000
