Another week of the MLB offseason to make it through. It’s not easy. The hot stove hasn’t really heated up yet (though it will get real hot soon) and it’s really too early to start mock drafting.

To fight those offseason blues, we here have been doing a series on early Fantasy Baseball Rankings for the 2016 season. Yeah, I haven’t even finished my rankings yet, and plenty of things will change, but it’s never too early to get to know your player pool.

In Week 1 we looked at the catcher position. You can sum our rankings up by saying it was Buster Posey and a big heap of mediocrity and question marks. If you didn’t catch them, please check out our Early 2016 Catcher Rankings.

Last week we moved on to first base, and even I was surprised at the lack of depth in elite bats at what is widely assumed to be Fantasy Baseball’s deepest position. Take a look at our Early 2016 First Base Rankings and see what I mean. Yeah, there are plenty of solid bats, but for me the elite bats end at Chris Davis and many would disagree with me on him.

This week we move on to our early 2016 Second Base Rankings. Second base is generally considered shallow. I think there are some very intriguing players at second base, but the question marks do start awful early. Make sure you read on after the rankings and see each writer’s early ideas on sleepers and busts at the position.

Meet the Experts

Ray Guilfoyle – Ray is the managing editor at Fake Teams, covering fantasy baseball, football, basketball, hockey and even some English Premier League soccer. Follow him on Twitter at@FakeTeams.

Jim Finch – Jim is one of the main men over at Fantasy Assembly. It’s from him that I blatantly stole the idea of doing rankings with an associated podcast from. They were selfish at Fantasy Assembly and kept their rankings in house. We’ll forgive Jim since he’s sharing with us now. He’s on probation though. Jim is on Twitter at @TheJimFinch.

Jake Ciely – Jake Ciely, also known as the All-In Kid, is a Senior Writer at RotoExperts, who treats life like poker, and has an extreme hatred of two-catcher leagues.

Fabian Taylor – Fabian is one of our own. His work for So-Called Fantasy Experts has been extraordinary. He’s one of the top new baseball writers in the industry and you’ll be hearing a lot more from him. Check out all his work at SCFE and follow him on twitter at @CanucksRule247

Doug “RotoDaddy” Anderson – The RotoDaddy moniker came about when my son was born in 2003, not because I spank everybody in Fantasy Baseball (though it does happen quite a bit). You can follow me on Twitter at @RotoDaddy, although right now I don’t post very often because I’m buried in player projections and profiles.

Mike Hilbig – Mike , @TheFantasyDr, is the co-host of The Fantasy Insider Show, where you’ll here us talk about these rankings later this week.

Joel Henard – Joel joined the SCFE team just recently and the podcasts we’ll do around these rankings will be the real kick-off of our relationship. He’s the voice behind The Fantasy Insiders and we’re looking forward to the skills he brings to the mic.

Thanks for reading our our Early 2016 Second Base Rankings. If you think we’re idiots (valid thinking) let us know about it in the comments. Keep an eye out later this week for the Fantasy Insiders Show, where the experts will defend their rankings, and make sure you come back next week when we move on to third base.
