Welcome to the Fantasy Baseball Hitting Planner for Week 17!

Each week, we try to point out the best set of hitters to target, so check back every Friday.

Baseball continues to get back on track in Week 17, as the 2015 All-Star Game is in the rearview.  Looking ahead to the hitter matchups for Week 17, we should keep in mind that Major League Baseball’s trade deadline arrives on Friday, July 31, at 4 p.m. EST. Meaning, players’ value and matchups could change – directly affecting your fantasy team.

Though far from an offensive powerhouse, the Rays get two fantastic matchups against the Tigers and Red Sox. The Blue Jays get a dream matchup at home against the struggling Phillies, but close out the week against a solid Royals’ pitching staff.

The Cubs get perhaps Week 17’s best matchup combination, as they host the Rockies, then on the road to play the Brewers. The Giants, too, get two great matchups in Week 17. They will host the Brewers, then an away series against the Rangers.

Best Hitter Matchups for Week 17

Chris Coghlan, OF, Chicago

With Dexter Fowler continuing to struggle against right-handed pitching, Coghlan has been picking up regular at-bats and continues to mash. Through 23 at-bats over the past week, Coghlan is batting .348 with a homer and two doubles. He and the Cubs will face two of the worst pitching staffs in baseball (Brewers and Rockies) and if he continues to swing a hot bat, he could be a nice addition to your fantasy squad in Week 17.

Addison Russell should also be considered a solid MI play for Week 17. Similar to Coghlan, Russell has been swinging a hot bat of late – hitting .368 over the past seven days – and he’ll get the same favorable matchups.

Carlos Beltran, OF, New York Yankees

There shouldn’t be a big spotlight on Beltran heading into Week 17, as he recently returned from the disabled list. But looking ahead, Beltran and the Yankees will get two great road matchups against the Rangers and White Sox. Beltran should pick up plenty of at-bats in Week 17, and provide your fantasy team with a solid source of counting stats.

Nori Aoki, OF, San Francisco

Aoki should be set to return to the Giants’ starting lineup in Week 17 after being on the disabled list with a fractured fibula. Before going down with the injury, Aoki was batting .317 with 33 runs scored and 12 stolen bases. Now heading into Week 17, Aoki will face two blowout-prone pitching staffs in the Rangers and Brewers. In addition, he should continue to bat atop the Giants’ batting order where he’ll provide your team with a strong source of runs and stolen bases.

Tyler Saladino, SS, Chicago White Sox

Saladino continues to see consistent time at third base for the White Sox, and continues to swing the bat. Since being called up to the Majors in early July, Saladino has hit .314 with two homers and four RBI. Although he has yet to record a stolen base, Saladino is a strong base runner that could provide your fantasy team with a nice source of steals.

In Week 17, the White Sox will face the pitching staff’s of the Red Sox and Yankees – two rotations that have been giving up runs with regularity.

Good luck and let our Week 17 Hitting Planner show you the way, and may your hitters find the bleachers more than they find double-play grounders!
