After a two-year hiatus, the Fantasy Fatcast podcast returns – this time on the “So-Called Fantasy” Network. Eric Mack and I have been co-writers at several Fantasy websites, which says as much about our ability as it does about to annoy employers.
We discuss last year’s rookie class, and how Todd Gurley’s success might have fueled the insane love for Cowboys rookie RB Ezekiel Elliott. Hasn’t history shown us already that the top rookie running backs rarely end up being the highest scoring rookie at the end of the season? Just ask Melvin Gordon III!
That moves us into the topic of last year’s breakout players, which has me bumbling and fumbling for a link to this article, explaining which seasons have breakout potential for different positions. Hello, Teddy Bridgewater! (He has a good Fantasy strength of schedule, too.) Finally, we dip into some of the 2015 Fantasy busts, like C.J. Anderson, Justin Forsett and Eddie Lacy – and what we think about them as possible rebound candidates.
We know there are some bad taps in the audio (I blame Emack), and we expect to have some good music going in our intro and outtros, starting next week. But for now, we’re just happy we finally got this bus going again!
Fantasy Fatcast Podcast: What to Expect!
In the coming months, we’re planning on doing two podcasts a week. For now, they are 30 minutes long, but I can see them eventually getting longer, as we add in some guests and maybe a few callers.
We definitely need to get Brett Tresky, our former Fatcast host, as one of our guests. He’s also a former CBS SportsLine guy, a competitor in our Softball Team Fantasy League, and a devout Tom Brady defender!
Some other guests we hope to have on this summer:
- Nando Di Fino, FNTSY
- Jamey Eisenberg, CBS Sports
- Dave Richard, CBS Sports
- Scott Engel, RotoExperts
- Michael Fabiano, NFL Network
- Jake Ciely, RotoExperts
- John Halpin, Fox Sports
- Will Carroll, FanDuel
And of course, we expect to have some of the SCFE Fantasy Football writers on as guests, too, like John La Presto, Michael Tomlin and Mark Strausberg.
Some of the topics we plan on covering range from the mandatory (sleepers, busts, breakouts, rookies) to the very fun (naming your Fantasy Football team) to the very helpful (our favorite free Fantasy Football draft tools).
Make sure you come back Tuesday as we kick off our positional previews with quarterbacks!
If you’d like to sponsor the Fantasy Fatcast Podcast, shoot me an email at email@example.com, and let us know what your goals are! We do 15-second prerolls, as well as longer midrolls. We have some creative ideas for advertising as well, so hit me up!
David Gonos and Eric Mack have worked together as Fantasy writers at CBSSports.com in the 2000s, SportsIllustrated.com and FanDuel. People call them “So-Called Fantasy Experts” more than anything else, except maybe “annoying fat guys,” so it stands to reason they brought their Fantasy Fatcast podcast back to life at SCFE!
