When playing Daily Fantasy Football on FanDuel, the tight end position is often overlooked, which is a great mistake. We’re here to provide you with some solid value plays at tight end, mixed in with a trio of tight ends we think are in trouble of getting shut down in Week 2.

Each week, the “So-Called Fantasy Experts” post their staff rankings, and Week 2 definitely has some interesting plays coming up at the tight end position.

Let’s pretend – just for a moment – that I didn’t tell you to avoid Travis Kelce against the Texans on FanDuel last week. (At least I’m honest when I screw up, do I get points for that!?!) In my defense, Kelce was $6,000, more than all but two other tight ends, and I didn’t feel great about the matchup.

With that said – I’m a dope, and I apologize for steering you wrong.

Let’s see if I can get you on the right side of things this week.

Our friends over at FantasyKnuckleheads.com created a superb Daily Fantasy Football Optimal Lineup Tool, which is definitely one of the best DFS tools around.

Don’t forget to also use Doug Anderson’s “Fantasy Points Allowed by Position,” where he breaks down the ability of defenses going up against each Fantasy position. The best part is – it breaks it down according to the individual scoring rules on several DFS sites, including FanDuel, DraftKings, FantasyAces, Drafster and FanThrowdown.

3 FanDuel Value Plays at Tight End

We handpicked a threesome for your Daily Fantasy Football pleasure! These tight ends are good plays considering their prices and their matchups in Week 2.

Rob Gronkowski, New England at Buffalo ($8,300): He’s $1,200 more expensive than the second tight end (Jimmy Graham), but Gronk has had 10 days to prepare for this battle. While the Colts weren’t successful against Bills, Gronk is too valuable to Tom Brady for the Patriots not to work him in at the goal line and down the middle of the field.

Zach Ertz, Philadelphia vs. Dallas ($5,200): This price was set before anyone knew if he’d play Monday night, and he did end up playing, so this is a good price for an integral part of the Eagles’ high-octane passing offense.

Marcedes Lewis, Jacksonville vs. Miami ($4,700): With Julius Thomas sidelined, Lewis remains the starting tight end for the Jaguars, and he’s facing a defense that gave up nine catches to tight ends last week. He wasn’t targeted in Week 1 once, but this is a solid GPP play this week.

3 Tight Ends to Avoid on FanDuel

This trio of tight ends are players you should stay away from for the upcoming weekend of NFL action. Some of these players might be worth a contrarian play in a GPP tournament, but for the most part, they’re players to avoid.

Tyler Eifert, Cincinnati vs. San Diego ($5,900): People were falling all over themselves in traditional Fantasy leagues trying to get Eifert after his nine-catch/two-TD debut this season, but the Chargers are pretty tough on tight ends, allowing just three touchdown catches to them last season.

Jason Witten, Dallas at Philadelphia ($6,000): In two games against the Eagles last season, Witten caught a total of seven passes on 11 targets for just 77 receiving yards and no touchdowns.

Ladarius Green, San Diego at Cincinnati ($5,600): Much like Eifert, Green got tons of pub this week as teams make moves to pick him up in yearly play off of waivers, but the Bengals allowed just two catches to a tight end last week for five yards.

Hopefully, these Week 2 Value Plays at Tight End will help you in both your 50/50 games and your GPP tournaments on FanDuel, or whichever Daily Fantasy Football site you play on!
