There’s something so enticing about playing a cheap quarterback on Fanduel. Unfortunately, that’s often a good way to end up with a quarterback that throws it just 24 times in a game – with a couple completions to the other team.

You often hear that it’s wise to pay up for a quarterback on FanDuel, especially when you are playing cash games (50/50s, Head-to-Heads and Double-Ups).

For FanDuel tournaments, however, that’s a different story, since you are trying to play quarterbacks that not only have a chance at a high score, but also aren’t necessarily owned by a large percentage of other players in that tournament.

For instance, in the NFL $50K Flea Flicker GPP tournament on FanDuel in Week 3, Andrew Luck – one of the most expensive quarterbacks of the week with a good matchup against the Titans – was owned by just over 5 percent of the entrants. In a 50/50 game, though, his ownership was likely much higher.

I wrote a column on FanDuel a couple weeks ago that pointed out where you can find quarterbacks with 3.00 values among FanDuel’s salary listing. It’s an interesting read, I promise, but you’ll find out that the best spot to find a quarterback with the best chances of a 3.00 value is in the $9,000 to $9,900 range.

Before we get into what I think are the best plays this week, I wanted to point out a great tool over at . Their Daily Fantasy Football Optimal Lineup Tool is definitely one of the best DFS tools around.

Don’t forget to also use Doug Anderson’s “Fantasy Points Allowed by Position,” where he breaks down the ability of defenses going up against each Fantasy position. The best part is – it breaks it down according to the individual scoring rules on several DFS sites, including FanDuel, DraftKings, FantasyAces, Drafster and FanThrowdown.

3 Value Plays at Quarterback on FanDuel

We handpicked three quarterbacks for your Daily Fantasy Football pleasure! These three QBs are good plays considering their prices and their matchups in Week 4. Remember that this is the first week with bye weeks, so Marcus Mariota and Tom Brady, the most-used QB on FanDuel in Week 3, are off.

Matt Ryan, Atlanta vs. Houston ($8,400): While the Texans’ pass rush will certainly give the Falcons’ offensive line fits, quarterbacks are having great success against the Texas through the air. I expect this game to be Ryan’s first 300-yard/3-TD game of the season.

Andy Dalton, Cincinnati vs. Kansas City ($7,600): The Chiefs defense have had the toughest time stopping opposing quarterbacks all season, allowing 30.67 Fantasy points per game to QBs. Dalton has seven touchdown passes in the first three games of the season, putting an ugly 2014 behind him.

Derek Carr, Oakland at Chicago ($7,000): The sophomore QB and his rookie WR (Amari Cooper) are connecting big-time, and now they’ll play at Soldier Field against a team that has allowed the second-most passing touchdowns this season (eight).

3 Quarterbacks to Avoid on FanDuel

This trio of quarterbacks are players you should stay away from for the upcoming weekend of NFL action. Some of these players might be worth a contrarian play in a GPP tournament, but for the most part, they’re players to avoid. I discuss how to pick contrarian players for tournaments here on FanDuel Insider.

Drew Brees, New Orleans vs. Dallas ($8,400): Brees (shoulder) is hopeful of playing this week, but even if he does, it’s tough to start him against a Cowboys defense that has only allowed three passing touchdowns so far this season. Plus, Brees is the third-most expensive quarterback on the week.

Carson Palmer, Arizona at St. Louis ($8,200): While the Cardinals’ passing game has been ultra-impressive lately, the Rams are the fourth-toughest team against the pass in the first three weeks. The Rams have given up just two passing touchdowns in 2015.

Teddy Bridgewater, Minnesota at Denver ($6,500): The Broncos have given up just one passing touchdown this season, so this should be the Adrian Peterson Show for the most part.

Hopefully, these Week 4 Value Plays at quarterbacks will help you in both your 50/50 games and your GPP tournaments on FanDuel, or whichever Daily Fantasy Football site you play on!
