I’m going to do my Week 5 DFS Lineup piece a bit different this week. I received some extremely constructive feedback from a number of readers about Week 4s article. Apparently the article was full of great info but was just a bit too long. Too much information doesn’t help anyone. I get it. It makes sense. Let’s narrow it down this week.

As a disclaimer, it wasn’t constructive feedback. It was pretty brutal. A number of people is a slight exaggeration. It was actually just one. And by readers I meant this guy I know. That said, feedback is feedback and it makes sense so I’m applying it, for you, the fans guy I know.

We hit on a decent amount of our suggestions in Week 4. Cash game suggestions included Kirk Cousins, Ezekiel Elliott, LeVeon Bell, Melvin Gordon, Carlos Hyde, Jordan Howard, Jordan Reed, Greg Olsen, Antonio Brown and others who hopefully made you some money, so you could give it to your significant other, or parents, or both.

Instead of a full breakdown at each position, I’ll give you two lineups I’m considering playing in cash games on DraftKings and FanDuel. Sometimes less is more. (That’s what she said)

For those playing in season long leagues as well, make sure you check out our Week 5 SCFE staff rankings here

Week 5 DFS Lineup: DraftKings – Cash Games

Lineup Number One

My approach to lineup number one is centered around having Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown and Odell Beckham Jr. together. Obviously these three are quite pricey so we need to find value elsewhere.

Latavius Murray likely missing this weekend’s game is what makes this lineup possible. DeAndre Washington should at the very least split carries with Jalen Richard, making him a great value play at only $3,400.

The running back position is where this lineup holds the most value. Stefon Diggs is likely out this weekend for the Vikings. Considering their limited options offensively, Jerick McKinnon will likely be on the field quite a bit given his ability as a pass catcher.

Jordan Howard has a similar scenario. Kevin White is out. Eddie Royal and Alshon Jeffery are both somewhat banged up. Howard burst onto the scene last week and demonstrated ability as a runner and in the passing game.

I would love to grab Jordan Reed or Greg Olsen this week, especially Olsen, but the salary doesn’t work. Zach Ertz should have a relatively low ownership given this is his first game of 2016. He also happens to have a pristine matchup.

The Minnesota Vikings DST is awesome.

Lineup Number Two

screen-shot-2016-10-07-at-8-11-04-pm

My approach to lineup number two is getting a piece of pissed off Tom Brady, the best RB in the NFL, LeVeon Bell, Antonio Brown (again) and getting some shares of Brandon Marshall. Eric Decker is out and Matt Forte isn’t 100 percent and given the the mediocre secondary of the Steelers, Marshall looks great this week.

I mentioned above DeAndre Washington should split carries this weekend. The man he’s splitting with is Jalen Richard. If we can get 10-15 touches out of each, it should pay off but we’ll hedge by playing them in different lineups.

I understand lots of folks aren’t fans of DeSean Jackson but did you see what Michael Crabtree did to Baltimore last week? I’ll take some of that.

I normally never play the minimum priced DST but the Colts can’t help themselves but turn the ball over at least once or twice as of late.

Other Strong Plays in DraftKings:

  • Eli Manning, QB, New York Giants
  • Derek Carr, QB, Oakland Raiders
  • Melvin Gordon, RB, San Diego Chargers
  • Devonta Freeman, RB, Atlanta Falcons
  • Bilal Powell, RB, New York Jets
  • A.J. Green, WR, Cincinnati Bengals
  • Mike Evans, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  • Amari Cooper, WR, Oakland Raiders
  • Jarvis Landry, WR, Miami Dolphins
  • Sterling Shepard, WR, New York Giants
  • Robert Woods, WR, Buffalo Bills
  • Brian Quick, WR, Los Angelas Rams
  • Martellus Bennett, TE, New England Patriots
  • Zach Miller, TE, Chicago Bears
  • Kyle Rudolph, TE, Minnessota Vikings

Week 5 DFS Lineup: FanDuel – Cash Games

Lineup Number One

screen-shot-2016-10-07-at-8-33-16-pm

We see the similarities between my first DraftKings lineup and this one. Roethisberger, Howard, McKinnon, Antonio Brown, Beckham, Ertz and the Vikings DST all make repeat appearances. The slight variation in this lineup is the kicker (obviously) and Brian Quick at the WR 3 position. I don’t want to play Brian Quick either but over the course of the last few weeks he’s far exceeded his price tag. The Buffalo secondary has some history of difficulty with larger WRs so it may be another plus performance from Quick.

Lineup Number Two

Lineup number two is the most diverse of any I’ve created thus far. I’m of the belief the Giants can take advantage of the Packers depleted secondary but given Beckham’s struggles, I can’t ignore the fact the production could come from Sterling Shepard, Victor Cruz or Will Tye.

Again we see the RB combo of McKinnon and Le’Veon. The number of snaps these two are going to see puts them both in an excellent position to meet or exceed value.

If you hadn’t noticed, I play Antonio Brown, a lot. Every week. Because… Antonio Brown.

Michael Crabtree has proven to be redzone best buddies with Derek Carr and with Jason Verrett’s injury in the Chargers secondary, Crabtree could once again find the endzone, which is more important on FanDuel than DraftKings.

The Eagles offense has a strong matchup against the Lions and even though Ertz is back, Matthews should have an advantage in the rezone.

Other Strong Options in FanDuel

I want to try and fit C.J. Anderson into at least one or two lineups this week. His TD upside might be even higher if rookie Paxton Lynch starts this weekend.

  • Ben Roethlisberger, QB, Pittsburgh Steelers
  • Kirk Cousins, QB, Washington
  • DeMarco Murray, RB, Tennessee Titans
  • C.J. Anderson, RB, Denver Broncos
  • Todd Gurley, RB, Los Angelas Rams
  • Jeremy Hill, RB, Cincinatti Bengals
  • Julio Jones, WR, Atlanta Falcons
  • A.J. Green, WR, Cincinatti Bengals
  • Odell Beckham, WR, New York Giants
  • Brandon Marshall, WR, New York Jets
  • Jordan Reed, TE, Washington
  • Martellus Bennett, TE, New England Patriots
  • Zach Ertz, TE, Philadelphia Eagles

Week 5 DFS Lineup: Tournament Options

  • Brian Hoyer, QB, Chicago Bears
  • Jameis Winston, QB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  • Terrance West, RB, Baltimore Ravens
  • Bilal Powell, RB, New York Jets
  • Jay Ajayi, RB, Miami Dolphins
  • Jordy Nelson, WR, Green Bay Packers
  • T.Y. Hilton, WR, Indianapolis Colts
  • Kelvin Benjamin, WR, Carolina Panthers
  • Sammie Coates, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers
  • Brice Butler, WR, Dallas Cowboys
  • Hunter Henry, TE, San Diego Chargers
  • Richard Rodgers, TE, Green Bay Packers
