Forgive me if I make a bunch of Lion King references below. Members of my house found out this week that the school play is going to be The Lion King.
But there are some good takeaways from that film to remember for Week 7 DFS.
First off, as Rafiki teaches Simba–it’s in the past. Whether you’ve won a lot this season or lost a lot this season, move on. The beauty of DFS versus season is that nothing you did earlier this season makes a difference.
Secondly, running from your problems doesn’t solve them. Are your lineups disappointing you? Don’t just give up and run away from DFS games. We all have to live with scars. Figure out what you are doing wrong. Look at what others are doing right. Running away won’t solve that problem.
Third, there’s more to being king than doing whatever you want. We could make another Lion King connection, but the reason of course is that in our material society, cash is king! So let’s talk about getting a little of that kind of royalty and discuss the picks for this week…
Week 7 DFS Picks
Week 7 Obvious Cash Game Pick
Julio Jones, WR, Atlanta Falcons ($8500 DK $8800 FD)
Yes, I am recommending a player who has yet to score a TD. Well I’d ask if you can feel the love tonight, but there’s a better explanation for why I am going with Jones this week….
Even a monkey can tell you that Julio Jones is a decent pick this week. For one, it’s not like he has been terrible, as Julio still has nearly 375 yards and 25 catches on the season. Just the law of averages tell me he is going to break through. And against the Patriots, who are giving up more Fantasy points than any other defense, it is a great match-up.
And that does not include narrative street either. For one, something tells me the Falcons are going to be super inspired to prove that the Super Bowl loss was a fluke and they can beat the Patriots. Secondly, the word going around is that Julio is going to see more targets this week.
Quinn on if he’s happy about how much Julio Jones is getting the ball. “No. We need more plays so he can get the ball more.”

And now priced at the lowest he has been at all season–$8500 on Draft Kings and $8800 on Fan Duel, there is no better time to get him into your lineup.
Week 7 GPP Pick of the Week
C.J. Beathard, QB, San Francisco 49ers ($4900 DK $6300 FD)
I gotta be out of my mind, right?
For starters, Dallas is giving up the fourth most Fantasy points to quarterbacks. Secondly, like Simba, he comes from a well respected family. But he struggled his senior year due to a knee injury, but he’s eager to take his place amongst the legends before him. And his stats from his junior year at Iowa (2800 yards and 17 TDs) are only half the picture as his performance was even better than his stats.
I also think game flow is going to require San Francisco to throw the ball a lot. Given that I expect his ownership to be very low and even if he just throws two touchdowns and 250 yards, that will give you a tidy profit plus plenty of salary to spend elsewhere.
Which bring us to this week’s potential lineups:
Week 7 GPP Potential Lineups
Here are the lineups for the week:
QB C.J. Beathard
RB: Joe Mixon (DK $5000 FD $5600)
One of our readers earlier this week assumed he should start Amari Cooper over Joe Mixon in his Flex spot. I informed him that Pittsburgh is actually giving up the ninth most Fantasy points to RBs. And that was seasonal. In a GPP, I expect Mixon to be very low owned and I am pushing all in on Mixon this week.
RB: Kareem Hunt (DK $8800)
I’ll be saving salary plenty of other places. I need an anchor for this team and against the Oakland run defense I see Hunt making up for last week. On FanDuel, give me the high floor of Todd Gurley ($8400) who has more FPPGs on Fan Duel than any other RB on Fan Duel.
WR: Josh Doctson (DK $3800)
With the price this cheap, I’m going with the narrative coming from the Washington Post that Coach Jay Gruden will “actively expand” Josh Doctson’s role.
WR Adam Humphries ($4800 FD)
Going deep here on Fan Duel to give you an alternative to Doctson. I think Tre’Davious White and the rest of the Buffalo secondary will keep Mike Evans and DeSean Jackson in check. This just feels like one of those games where Humphries sees a lot of action and will be a sneaky play to score.
WR: Doug Baldwin ($6600 DK)
Going up against the Giants, this is just a ridiculously low price on Draft Kings. Thank you.
WR: DaVante Adams ($6900 FD)
And if you need an alternative to Baldwin for FanDuel, I’ll take the bargain pricing on DaVante Adams whose 13 FPPG average in this range stands out like a lion hanging out with a prairie dog.
WR: Marqise Lee ($4300)
I jumped off of him last week, but after seeing 10 targets last week, I think he finally scores this week. Of course, if he’s still injured, it might be an issue. Call it the circle of life. But as I said for Julio and scoring a touchdown…
TE: George Kittle ($3600 DK $4800 FD)
If Beathard is my QB, I want a target to stack who I think will score and get a lot of action. Kittle had eight targets last week and had one called back. I think he gets one this week and at $3600, that’s a price I can’t ignore.
FLEX: Ezekiel Elliott or Julio Jones
Coming off a bye and annoyed with the constant legal battle, I think Elliott does all he wants to for his Fantasy owners. If he really doesn’t play, I’m pivoting to Julio for the reasons above.
K: Greg Zuerlein ($5200 FD)
Zuerlein’s leg is more powerful than a wildabeast stamped running through a ravine.
DST: Chicago ($4300 FD $2200 DK)
I originally had the Saints in this space, which means they are probably the better play. But I feel like the Packers will do just enough to make the Saints a middling play. The Bears, however, make for a really enticing punt play. Yes, Cam Newton has revived his season, but it has come against three secondaries in the bottom third of the league. The Bears have the league’s seventh most sacks, are the NFL’s sixth best defense and they are allowing the eighth fewest QB Fantasy points. They are at home this Sunday against the Panthers who might be without Kelvin Benjamin. I know I’ve talked a lot about the lion king, but it might just be the bear necessities this week!
Last week was “fade city,” but I really like this week’s picks and I just cant wait to be king!
