My Week 9 DFS Lineup is going to be full of chalk, let’s just get that out of the way. There are a few options this week that simply cannot be avoided in cash games, just accept it. Tournaments are a different story and there are plenty of pivot options available but we’ll focus on cash games so that when Week 9 is said and done it will be a cacophony of laughter, as we make it rain in our living room.

Jamaal Charles is out. Spencer Ware is out. Enter the Charcnado, Charcandrick West. West is going to be in the majority of cash game lineups because he’s still priced as a backup but will essentially be the only RB on the Chiefs roster this weekend. He’s virtually a must play.

Ezekiel Elliott faces the lowly Browns in Week 9 and most are predicting he’ll have himself plenty of SportsCenter highlights when all is said and done. Typically paying for the highest priced player at a position isn’t a requirement for DFS success but this week may be the exception to that rule. If you’re not playing Elliot that’s fine, but know your opponent probably will be.

Week 9 is one of those rare weeks where your QB selection may be the most pivotal. There are plenty of options but none stand head and shoulders above the rest. Aaron Rodgers, Andrew Luck, Dak Prescott, Ryan Tannehill, Drew Brees, Andrew Luck and yes, even Colin Kaepernick all have great matchups.

There are three games on the Week 9 slate with a projected point total of 48 or higher so if you’re finding yourself having a harder time deciding on a lineup than voting in this year’s election, perhaps look to those games as a tie breaker. The Cowboys vs. Browns, Colts vs. Packers and Saints vs. 49ers are the games people will be targeting.

I’ve been avoiding Aaron Rodgers for most of the season but last week he had a little extra swagger and it reminded us of the Aaron Rodgers who was a lock in DFS. I’ll trust the eye test when I saw him pass last week, especially against a pathetic Colts defense. How does Ryan Grigson still have a job in a decision making role? Would I hire him to work the door at a nightclub? Yes, but that’s about it. He’s the Suge Knight of the NFL.

As mentioned earlier, I’m rolling with Zeke and Charcnado. It’s chalk and everyone will have them but I don’t want to be the one who doesn’t if they both go off.

I have Antonio Brown in my lineup because, well, Antonio Brown. That will change, however, if reports suggest Ben Roethlisberger is out, or even limited. I don’t want to risk giving my money to Landry Jones. Remember when Bill Pollian said Landry Jones was the best QB in his class?

Maybe I’m a glutton for punishment but I’m going to give Allen Robinson one more week. Blake Bortles is legitimately terrible, outside of garbage time, but Robinson is too good to be this bad.

Yes, T.Y. Hilton is the best WR on the Colts but Donte Moncrief and Andrew Luck have a nice little rapport over the last two seasons when both are healthy. He’s underpriced and I’ll continue to take advantage.

I don’t think I’ve ever played Kyle Rudolph on the correct week but, I’ll go to the Rudolph well once again as his matchup with the Lions is the best possible scenario for tight ends this season.

Lineup Number Two

In lineup number two, I give you some nice pivot options away from what’s most likely the chalk plays of the week. Kaepernick is probably a better play on DraftKings than Fanduel but his price gives us the flexibility to play LeVeon Bell, Odell Beckham and Greg Olsen, three of the top players at their positions.

Jarvis Landry, like Kaepernick, is a better play on DraftKings as FanDuel scoring is more TD reliant but this week Landry could have his game of the season. The Jets secondary is legitimately awful and there isn’t anyone who can hang with Landry’s skill set.

The Cowboys secondary is depleted after suffering injuries last week, making a Cleveland Browns player an actual option. If you haven’t seen Corey Coleman play, keep an eye on this game. Coleman is a special talent who could easily have himself a ballgame against the Cowboys backup corners and safteys.

I know … trust me, I know … Ryan Tannehill? But, it’s the Jets. Tannehill’s price allows us to play Elliott, Charc West, Antonio Brown and Odell Beckham. If we can get 17 points from Tannehill, that’s well worth it.

As is the case with Antonio Brown, if Roethlisberger is playing then I’m in on Sammie Coates as well. If Roethisberger is out, I’m swapping both guys out of my lineup. The Ravens secondary has been beat deep more than a few times this season and it seems everyone has forgotten about Coates. A lower ownership percentage gives us the advantage there.

Antonio Gates may be the only professional athlete I could beat in a foot race but with Hunter Henry out, all he has to do is stand at the goal line and box out a linebacker to score. Our goal here is to get nine points from Gates, triple his price. I think that’s doable this week with the limited options the Chargers have on offense.

Lineup Number Two

If you’re a believer in the Dak Attack then there’s no reason not to roll with a Dak Prescott and Dez Bryant stack against one of the worst defenses of the last 20 years. I like this lineup as a pivot away from the Elliot chalk as we go with Bell as opposed to Zeke and the Cowboys passing game instead.

I’m not 100 percent sold on the idea of playing Mark Ingram this week after what took place in Week 8, but at only 4,800 against the worst run defense in the league … it’s awfully tempting. Let’s try and keep our eyes and ears on what the local Saints beat reporters are saying leading up to this game. If the news is that Ingram will split carries with Tim Hightower, I may look elsewhere.
